Membership Policy

What's included with an active BTSM membership, and what changes if you cancel or miss a payment.

Active membership

• Your membership is active as long as your payments are current. Every benefit below is included at no extra cost while you're active.
• There's no "pause" tier — a membership is either active or cancelled. If a payment fails, you have a 1-week grace period to resolve it and stay active. If it's still unresolved after a week, your membership is cancelled.

Cancelling

• You can cancel anytime. It takes effect at the end of your current paid period — you keep full access through everything you've already paid for. Nothing is cut short, nothing is refunded for time remaining.
• Once your membership reaches that date, classes and benefits stop. Signing back up at any time restores everything immediately.

Missing a class — make-up credits

• If you know ahead of time you'll miss a class, cancel that class in your account for a make-up credit. This doesn't affect your membership at all — it's the right tool for a one-off absence.
• Make-up credits are earned and usable only while your membership is active.

A note about "Pause" and "Skip" in your account

• If you manage your subscription through Shopify's own subscription tools (via "Manage My Subscriptions" in your account), you may see Pause and Skip buttons.
• A paused subscription does not hold your spot — it ends your access at your coverage date, the same as cancelling. Skipping just means that billing cycle goes unpaid.
• If you need to miss one class, use a make-up credit (above). If you need a real break, cancel — you're always welcome back.

Open play

• Active members: unlimited open play, included at no extra cost.
• Cancelled members: open play is free only on a day you have a scheduled class — otherwise it's the regular drop-in rate.

League

• Included at no extra cost with an active membership. Cancelling means you sit out league for that edition until you sign back up.

Everything else — active members only

These are also included only while your membership is active:

• My Progress — your coach's skill grading and feedback in your account.
• Exclusive discounts — $20 off private lessons; 20% off tournaments and the BTSM Store.
• ATeam Fitness training — the off-court strength program with Alex Melo.
• Family discount — 10% off each membership when 2 or more family members train with us.
• Kids membership perk — free entry to the Winter Kickoff Classic kids division.
