Why kids take to it

Easier than tennis. Just as much game.

Beach tennis has no bounce and no baseline to chase. Kids rally in their first session instead of spending months learning to keep a ball in play — so the fun arrives before the frustration does.

01
They rally on day one

The ball is depressurised and the court is small, so a beginner can keep a point alive within minutes. That first rally is what makes them ask to come back.

02
Sand is kind to bodies

No hard-court pounding on growing joints, and moving in sand quietly builds the balance, footwork and core strength that carry into every other sport.

03
It's a doubles game

Every point is played with a partner. Kids learn to communicate, cover for each other and win as a pair — not to stand alone on a baseline.

04
Coached the BTS way

The same BTS Method our adults train under, adapted for kids. Structured progression, real technique from the start, and a clear path into competition when they want it.

Wide shot: a kids class mid-rally on the sand — ideally 3–4 kids on court with the coach feeding.
Schedule

Two locations. Two age groups.

Each class is 60 minutes, max 4 kids per court. We split by age rather than by level so the rallies are fair — your coach moves a child up when they're ready.

Their first tournament

A kids division at the Winter Kickoff Classic.

The Winter Kickoff Classic is our end-of-season tournament on Santa Monica Beach — November 20–22, 2026, with the main day of draws on Saturday, November 21. For 2026 it has a kids division for the first time.

It's a real tournament with a real draw, run on the same sand they train on, with their coach on site all day. For most kids it is the moment the sport stops being a class and starts being theirs.

Free for members
Kids on a monthly membership get free entry to the kids division. No code to chase — sign up for classes and we enter your child. Non-members enter at the standard rate ($40 Early Bird / $45 General / $50 Final Entry).

Age groups for the kids draw will be confirmed once entries are in, so the brackets match the kids who actually show up. Everything else — format, schedule, courts — is on the tournament page.

For parents

The practical bits.

What do they need to bring?

Athletic clothes they can move in, a hat, sunscreen, a water bottle. Paddles and balls are provided. They play barefoot.

Does my child need experience?

No. Every kids class starts from zero and every group has beginners in it. If your child has played tennis or padel, they'll pick it up even faster.

What if they're on the edge of an age group?

Come to the one that matches their age and the coach will tell you honestly after a session or two if the other group is a better fit. Moving between them is easy.

Can I watch?

Yes — it's a public beach and parents watch from the sand. You'll be close enough to hear the coaching, far enough not to be part of it.

Can they miss a week?

Yes. Memberships include make-up classes, and you can pause or cancel anytime — school holidays and travel are normal here.

Can siblings train together?

If they're in the same age group, yes. Different age groups take different slots — and either way, the 10% family discount applies.
